Windsor Castle

One of the most famous castles in the United Kingdom, inhabited for centuries by the British Royal Family and still very much in use today.  Walk through the open-air precincts of the castle and enter the magnificent St. George's Chapel. Learn about the castle's development, historic heroes and villains, everyday community life, ghost tales and funny stories, how the castle is guarded, the story of the chapel and the prestigious Order of the Garter.  Finish the tour with an overview of the Royal Collection exhibition before going into the State Apartments.

Oxford

Oxford has the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Learn about town's history and the development of the University and the Bodleian Library, while walking around the town centre.  See our very first University classrooms, several colleges, the Sheldonian Theatre, Radcliffe Square, the historic buildings of the Bodleian Library, the vibrant covered market, the Ashmolean Museum and the Bridge of Sighs.  Other sights can be woven in, depending on the amount of time you have at your disposal!.

Henley-on-Thames

Home to the famous Henley Regatta, one of the prettiest towns on the river Thames. No wonder George Harrison  wanted to live here and pop stars still do. See the beautifully restored pubs and Georgian coaching inns, learn about the history of brewing and see one of the most famous rowing clubs in the world.

Marlow

A riverside town with many important associations.  Original base for the first military academy, home to famous female horror-story authoress, Mary Shelley and Olympic rowing hero Steve Redgrave. Brewing centre and rowing centre.  Admired for its amazing suspension bridge and most recently, film location for TV series Marlow Murder Club.

Dorchester-on-Thames

Filming location for the 29 year murder-mystery TV programme Midsomer Murders, this little town goes back to before the Romans.  Be stunned by its huge abbey and the charming high street with 18th century coaching inns.  

Bampton, Cotswolds

Filming location for the hugely popular TV drama Downton Abbey; Bampton became the village of Downton, where the actors fell in love with the community and the location.

Visit the museum, the church and village green as part of a themed Downton Abbey road-trip.

Burford, Cotswolds

Famous historic wool market town with an impressive "wool church" and spectacular high street with Cotswold stone mansion houses, wonderful shops, pubs and restaurants. A shopper's dream with independent retailers.  You can also get a pint of Jeremy Clarkson's famous Hawkstone Lager here!

Lechlade, Cotswolds

Close to the source of the river Thames, at the location of the first lock.  A perfect place to walk through the peaceful fields to the famous statue of Old Father Thames and to watch the lock filling up, before returning for a refreshing beverage or a jaunt on a small boat or pedalo!

Runnymede

The location where the Magna Carta was signed, alongside the Thames near Windsor.  Walk through the meadows to see the memorials and learn about the origins of our justice system. This is worth a morning visit or part of a full day combined with Windsor.
